Professionals of foot ailments recommend foot soaking every week in chlorine solution with water in the ratio of 1:100. The foot soaking is advised for keeping the foot clean and hygienic. It is sometimes recommended to have stronger chlorine solution by adding chlorine to ten times of water to bleach the nails and remove the stains. It will be somewhat aggressive if you choose a denser solution to bleach toenail fungus. Before starting the home treatment for infected toenail, it is advised to trim the nail first. After trimming down the nail, it should also be filed well as close as you can to make the nail thinner.

Diluted bleach:

Most people usually recommend using diluted solution for toenail infection. They mix one tablespoon of chlorine to water measuring one gallon. The foot soaking for about 30 minutes a day will be an ideal treatment. It can also be had both in the morning and in the evening for 15 minutes in each session. This way of bleaching the nails will gradually bring down the chances of getting irritation when soaking the foot in the solution.

Concentrated bleach:

Some people choose concentrated solution for treating toenail fungus. They propose a thick solution of one in four with water to cure toenail fungus faster. In this process, the bleaching solution is applied to the infected nail directly. Sometimes undiluted bleach is applied and then washed off just after four or five minutes. If it is left on the nail unwashed, it may damage the skin that remains exposed during the bleaching process. It should be kept in mind that the chlorine bleach with its corrosive property is harmful. The fumes of this chemical should never be inhaled. So, it is safe that you use diluted solution for an ingrown toenail cure.

In case you choose bleach method to treat infected toenail, it may take two or three months for complete cure. Though it is slow in curing toenail fungus, it is definitely one of the cheap and best of various remedies compared with prescription medications.
